It's great to know that there are lots of chain restaurants in this area with vegan options. We'd especially love to hear about locally owned single-location restaurants with vegan options too. Those are examples of individuals, not corporations, making a conscious choice to offer a vegan option, and we always want to support that! If you know of any such restaurants, please tell us!

Yes you can get vegan food at a truck stop! A salad bar and spaghetti with meat-free sauce are available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

Taco Bell, multiple locations

Lots of options here by making simple substitutions; just ask for your item without meat, sour cream, or cheese. For example, the seven layer burritos, nachos, tacos, or Mexican pizzas can be made vegan by ordering without meat, sour cream and cheese. It's hard to beat Taco Bell for a cheap way to fill up; just get a handful of their bean burritos without cheese. Special hint: tell them that you want your items "fresco." That is their special notation to replace sauce or cheese with diced tomatoes, onion and cilantro. Don't forget a load of "fire" sauce packets!

Wendy's, multiple locations

An unusual option here: order a Veggie Sandwich, which is their burger without the meat. Better specify no mayo or cheese. Their Deluxe Salad is vegan when ordered without cheese; be sure to specify that you want the Red Italian Dressing. Wendy's fries are vegan, and we can also do a plain baked potato here.
* One of the Arkansas Vegan crew is a real potato head and could eat baked potatoes all day, but warns that a plain ol' dry baked potato can be pretty hard to swallow. Wendys don't offer vegan margarine, Bacos, or sour cream substitute, so you might want to ask for some of that Red Italian Dressing to help this down.

Subway, multiple locations

The sub sandwich makers battle back and forth for the tastiest vegan veggie sub; here at Arkansas Vegan we feel like Subway has the lead right now. Order their Veggie Delite on Italian bread and load it up with your favorite stuff. We generally ask for them to substitute avocado for cheese, which does make a big difference.
Baskin Robbins, 10144 Hwy 63 North, Bono, AR 72416, (870) 932-5023
Baskin Robbins, 808 E. Jackson, Harrisburg, AR 72432, (870) 578-9596
Baskin Robbins, 1853 East Highland, Jonesboro, AR 72401, (870) 932-0088
Baskin Robbins, 1728 Hwy 69 Blvd, Trumann, AR 72472, (870) 483-1918

One of the Arkansas Vegan crew was taken to Baskin Robbins regularly as a kid for special treats but as a vegan adult missed the fun. We're happy to report that now Baskin Robbins has vegan dairy-free and gelatin-free ices and sorbets, so the fun can continue! At time of going to press the ice flavor available is Daiquiri Ice, which is lime ice blended with a splash of rum flavoring. See you at these locations...

Quiznos, 808 South Caraway Rd, Jonesboro, AR 72401, (870) 268-1782
Quiznos, Brookside Plaza, 2210 W Kingshighway, Paragould, AR 72450, (870) 236-3005
Quiznos, Citgo, 408 E 22nd St, Stuttgart, AR 72160, (870) 673-4445

Quiznos' veggie sub without cheese, and with balsamic vinaigrette (not the red wine vinaigrette) is vegan.

Arby's, 1001 W Main St, Jacksonville, AR 72076, (501) 982-0606
Arby's, 2511 E Highland Dr, Jonesboro, AR 72401, (870) 932-2700

While your friends order their cholesterol burgers you can order a garden salad or side salad, either with Italian dressing. This is another place that has baked potatoes, but again you'll have to ask for some Italian dressing on the side to help it down. A big bonus at Arby's is that their apple and cherry turnovers are vegan!!!
