Celebrate!
Every day is a holiday somewhere in the world, and every day is the perfect opportunity to celebrate our compassionate lifestyle.
September 4: United States: Labor Day

Labor Day is the holiday dedicated to you, the person working for a living and doing your part to make the world a better place. We tip our hats, raise our glasses, and offer our heartfelt thanks for everything you do.

The first Labor Day was first celebrated in 1882, when the average work week was 60 hours and average wage was between $5 and $8 a week. Luckily workplace conditions and compensation have improved a bit since then. Nevertheless, this holiday is your opportunity to put down the tools of your labor and relax on the last holiday of summer. Call up a friend or two, drag out that barbeque, and get grilling! We've been grilling Chicken-Free Chickens (a new product made by Follow Your Heart, makers of Vegenaise and Vegan Gourmet Cheese) and family favorites UnSteak and UnChicken (by Now and Zen, makers of Hip Whip and UnTurkey). I have to tell you, a big ol' UnSteak hot off the grill with some A1 Sauce and an ice cold beer makes for a really nice Labor Day.

Gibraltar
In a country measuring only 4 square miles where do you fit an airport, a TV station, four radio stations, and enought people to run a 160-ship merchant marine?
September 10: Gibraltar: National Day

Spain's golden beaches are world reknowned, and there's more to see there than sand. You know what I'm talking about: that rocky peninsula jutting out into the Mediterranean. Gibraltar is of enormous strategic importance in naval and maritime terms and has been fought over throughout history. The last conquerors were the British in 1704, and Gibraltar has remained a proud part of the United Kingdom since then. Some might even say fiercely proud; on September 10, 1967 a referendum was held in which Gibraltar's voters could vote to remain under British sovereignty or return to Spanish sovereignty. The vote was a pro-British landslide: 12,138 for Britain and just 44 for Spain. The disheartened Spanish government immediately closed the border and broke off all communications. They've opened back up since then, but Gibraltarians continue to celebrate September 10th every year as a day of national unity.

Because we're helping them celebrate being British, something warming and filling and pie-like is needed. Red Lentil Pie will do nicely, thank you. It's actually very good and can be modified in a lot of ways to suit your taste.
